I’M PREGNANT AND APPROACHING MY DUE DATE, CAN ACUPUNCTURE HELP ME INDUCE LABOR?

Acupuncture can help encourage the body's natural progression into labor.   For this purpose we often see women starting at 37 weeks, but we also see women who have reached or gone past their due dates.  Acupuncture is a safe and gentle way to facilitate the process of labor.  Please call or email for further information.

HOW LONG IS A TREATMENT?

Your session will be one hour in total.

CAN ACUPUNCTURE HELP WITH FERTILITY?

We frequently combine Chinese herbal medicine with acupuncture when working with women to support fertility.  The holistic approach of Chinese medicine sees the body as inseparable from its environment.  In addition to considering gynecological issues we also examine diet, exercise, habits and sleep.  We may recommend dietary and lifestyle changes if needed.  Studies have shown acupuncture to significantly improve IUI and IVF outcomes.

CAN ACUPUNCTURE TREAT MY ALLERGIES?

Chinese medicine treats both seasonal and chronic allergies. By boosting the immune system with acupuncture and possibly herbs, the body’s allergic response can change, improve and even resolve.

HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE FEEL?

Most patients find the treatments calming and relaxing. Once the needles are in place, a slightly warming or moving sensation may be felt around the needle. This is called “da qi” or “good qi” and simply means that qi (energy) is moving.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

The number of treatments depends upon the duration, severity and nature of your complaint. You may need only a single treatment for an acute condition or more than five for more severe and chronic issues. In general, treatments are once a week for three to six weeks. At that point it may be determined if further treatment or maintenance is necessary or not. It is also possible to receive more than one treatment a week depending upon the condition.

PLEASE, DESCRIBE THE NEEDLES.

Acupuncture needles are safe, sterile, disposable, and used only once. The needles are solid and extremely thin, nearly hair fine.  Most people are pleasantly relieved after they feel how painless acupuncture can be.

CAN ACUPUNCTURE HELP ME QUIT SMOKING?

Acupuncture can significantly reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms such as headaches, sleeping disorders, irritability, agitation, anxiety and other common side effects associated with discontinuing use.  We will pick a quit date and work together.   Plan on a series of sessions.  Quitting smoking is a great time to get the support you wouldn't normally ask for, it can make the critical difference.
